Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan today delivered a concluding speech in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, summing up the report on the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia for 2025, and addressed criticism directed at the Prosecutor’s Office by opposition MPs.
Responding to a question by Gegham Manukyan, MP from the “Armenia” faction, regarding accused Artur Sargsyan, Anna Vardapetyan stated: “When speaking about the criminal proceedings involving your colleague Artur Sargsyan, you fail to mention that on June 27, 2025, a claim on the confiscation of illicitly acquired property was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court.”
The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a claim demanding the confiscation of the following property from the former Mayor of Sisian and Member of Parliament Artur Sargsyan and his affiliated in favor of the Republic of Armenia:
I informed you at least a week ago, again during the session of the State and Legal Affairs Committee, that in case you have something to say, you are welcome to come and sign that you are aware of criminal liability for giving false testimony, and that what you are shouting into the first available microphone, you are welcome to state within the framework of a criminal proceeding, giving testimony—again, after signing that you are aware of criminal liability for giving false testimony. Something tells me you will not do it,” concluded the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.
