In 2025 no murder case was recorded in the RA Armed Forces. Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan announced this today in the RA National Assembly and informed that during 2025, 2,248 cases were recorded in the military units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and other troops (2,093 cases in 2024). Out of the recorded cases, 1027 or 45,7% were accidents (762 in 2024), 1221 or 54,3% were crimes (1331 in 2024), including 687 or 56,3% military (715 in 2024), 534 or 43,7% other crimes (616 in 2024).

 

It should be recalled that the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan, in accordance with the constitutional law "Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly", today submitted to the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia the report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia in 2025, which was sent to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on March 31, 2026 and published on the official website of the Prosecutor's Office.

 

In 2025, the following cases of service-related deaths of servicemen in the RA Armed Forces were recorded: 6 conscripts, 2 conscripts of the NSS border troops and 1 home guard. In total, 9 service-related deaths were recorded, compared to 27 cases in 2024.

 

The service-related deaths are as follows:

 

  • 4 cases of negligent suicide,
  • 1 case of military official negligence,
  • 1 case of causing death of a person as a result of failure to perform or improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker,
  • 1 case of lightning strike,
  • 2 cases of illness.

 

During 2025, service-related deaths of servicemen decreased by 18 cases or 66,7% (27 cases in 2024).

 

The amount of damage caused to the state in criminal proceedings investigated during 2025 amounted to AMD 411,728,063 (in 2024: AMD 1,479,117,389), out of which AMD 108,712,388 was recovered in pre-trial proceedings (in 2024: AMD 51,935,493).

 

According to Anna Vardapetyan, 280 investigations conducted by the State Interests Protection Department of the Central Military Prosecutor's Office and the military prosecutor's offices of the garrisons in 2025 recorded damage caused to the state in the amount of AMD 1 billion 432 million 493 thousand (in 2024: AMD 5 billion 677 million 550 thousand). "In 2025, the damage caused to the state in the amount of AMD 938 million 80 thousand was restored, out of which 924 million 294 thousand was restored extrajudicially by the State Interests Protection Department," the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia announced and added that AMD 92 million 213 thousand were restored during 2025 from the damages recorded as a result of the investigations conducted in 2024.

 

During 2025, 24 lawsuits were filed by military prosecutors in the field of state interests protection (19 lawsuits in 2024). The total demand for confiscation in 24 lawsuits is AMD 4 billion 564 million 117 thousand. 5 of the lawsuits have been fully granted, the examination of 19 has not yet been completed. The total amount subject to confiscation in 5 fully granted lawsuits is AMD 11 million 466 thousand.
