On December 18, 2025, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia received the students of the School of Democracy and Security.
The Prosecutor General thanked the students of the School for initiating the meeting and touched upon the activities carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office in the scope of state interests protection and confiscation of illegal property, their outcomes, the property returned to the state as a result of prosecutorial action, good conduct, and the effectiveness of the fight against corruption crimes.
The Prosecutor General of the Republic, presenting the work of the Prosecutor's Office to return to the state the illegally alienated or leased properties on the shores of Lake Sevan, emphasized that during 2025, 5 claims were addressed to the Ministry of Environment and the "Sevan National Park" SNCO by the Department of State Interests Protection of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Prosecutor’s Office of Gegharkunik Region Prosecutor's Office. In addition to the claims, as a result of the study conducted, reports on the crime were sent to preliminary investigation bodies, and criminal proceedings were initiated.
"In addition, based on the study undertaken within the framework of the authority to initiate a lawsuit for the protection of state interests in the Prosecutor's Office of Gegharkunik Region, a petition was addressed to the Sevan community and the "Sevan National Park" SNCO to dismantle the illegally constructed buildings and structures on 34 land plots on the shores of Lake Sevan below the absolute line and restore the land to its previous appearance. "At the moment, dismantling works are underway; by the end of the year, it is planned to dismantle illegally constructed buildings on about ten plots of land belonging to different individuals in the areas below the absolute mark on the shores of Lake Sevan," said Anna Vardapetyan and reminded that administrative proceedings have been initiated based on petitions, and 23 demolition decisions have been made.
The Prosecutor General underlined that the dismantling works are being documented, and information on the work carried out by the end of this year will be presented to the public by the Prosecutor's Office.
Referring to the work carried out in the frame of the state interests protection, Anna Vardapetyan noted that, from January 1, 2025 to the present, initiate a lawsuit for the protection of state (community) interests within the framework of the exclusive authority to the Prosecutor's Office, as well as in the result of prosecutorial action, has returned to the state or community property worth AMD 66 billion 250 million, which is the equivalent to 174 million 545 thousand US dollars, including 3 kindergartens, a house of culture, a stadium, a natural monument, parks, land plots and monetary means.
