A meeting of the Board was held today under the chairmanship of Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the RA, during which the issue of appointing a Deputy Prosecutor General of the RA was discussed.

Taking into account that the position of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the RA has been vacant since 11 April 2023, Anna Vardapetyan presented to the members of the Board Yeghiazar Avagyan's - Head of the Department of International Legal Cooperation of the Prosecutor General's Office candidacy, in accordance with the procedure established by Part 3, Article 36 of the RA Law "On Prosecutor’s Office".

Anna Vardapetyan highly appreciated the candidate's professional and personal qualities and expressed her hope that Yeghiazar Avagyan will continue to implement the programs and reforms initiated by Anahit Manasyan, the former Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, currently Human Rights Defender. "Mr. Avagyan is the best specialist in his work, he is honest, has a positive perception within the system. This appointment, like Mr. Elizbaryan's, is an impetus to understand who can claim a high position in the Prosecutor's Office", emphasized the Prosecutor General of the Republic.

The members of the Board expressed positive opinions about Yeghiazar Avagyan's candidacy, emphasizing his professionalism, demandingness in work, diligence and high human qualities.

Yeghiazar Avagyan, the candidate for Deputy Prosecutor General, expressed his gratitude to the Prosecutor General of the RA for the trust and emphasized that it obliges him to act and work with greater strength and energy to increase the reputation of the Prosecutor's Office.

After the Board’s meeting, Yeghiazar Avagyan was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia by the order of Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General.
