A.N., (having the military rank of major) Deputy Commander of the military unit in charge of logistics, during the process of provision of food to combat positions located near Ishkhanasar, Syunik region, appeared with another servicemen A.T., in the territory controlled by the enemy near the area called “Black Lake”, afterwards they were taken into captivity and transferred to Baku.

By the preliminary examination carried out in the Investigative Department of the National Security Service data was obtained on the fact that A.N.  being a prisoner of war in one of the prisons of Baku until September 7, 2021 signed a written contract on cooperation with  foreign special services.

On September 7 of the same year, A.N. returned to Armenia and was appointed in the position of the Head of Utility operations of N military unit of the Defense Ministry in 2021.  

During his office he provided data containing state secret to the representatives of the foreign special services, thus committing treason and receiving USD 20200 as a remuneration.    
 

On February 28, 2023, the supervising prosecutor rendered a decision on initiating a public criminal prosecution under part 1 of article 299 of the RA Criminal Code against the corresponding officer of N military unit. Charges were brought against A.N.

The preliminary examination under the criminal proceedings was completed and on March 6, 2023, according to the decision of the supervising prosecutor, the indictment was approved and the materials of the criminal proceedings and the materials of the case were submitted to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan.
