Recovery of AMD 30 Billion 341 Million of damages in criminal proceedings investigated under the supervision of the for Combating Economic Crimes of the Prosecutor General’s Office

On March 7, 2026, an extended meeting of the Collegium of the Prosecutor’s Office was held under the leadership of Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, during which the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office for 2025 were summarized.

 

Deputy Prosecutor General Aram Aramyan presented the works carried out in 2025 by prosecutors of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the Department for Cases of Crimes against State Power and the Department for Crimes Against Public Health of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

 

According to Aram Aramyan, in 2025 damages amounting AMD 30,341,581,000 were recovered in criminal proceedings investigated under the supervision of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
AMD 15,463,560,000 was recovered under the completed criminal proceedings. According to the Deputy Prosecutor General, compensation for damages caused to the state was recovered within the framework of criminal proceedings concerning crimes allegedly committed by former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan, the brother of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, family members of the National Assembly former deputy Karo Karapetyan, National Assembly former members Nahapet Gevorgyan and Harutyun Pambukyan, as well as their family members, and in several other criminal proceedings.

 

Aram Aramyan also reported that across the entire territory of Armenia there has been a decrease in cases of interference with the lawful official or political activities of officials. “The decrease in this type of crime has shown a consistent downward trend over the years. In particular, 141 cases were recorded in 2023, 111 cases in 2024 and 87 cases in 2025. As in 2024, the detection rate in 2025 was 100 percent,” emphasized the Deputy Prosecutor General.

 

Presenting the work carried out in 2025 by the Department for Crimes Against Public Health of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Aram Aramyan stated that during the reporting period 11 criminal proceedings involving 24 individuals accused of illegal drug trafficking for the purpose of sale, by using the internet, information and telecommunication technologies were submitted to the court along with indictments. Within the framework of these 11 criminal proceedings, the total recorded financial turnover of the criminal activities amounted to approximately AMD 5,108,634,000.
