The court has granted the claim of the Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik Region for the protection of state interests: a land plot with an area of 0.8 hectares will be returned to the Meghri community

08/10/2025

On April 18, 2025, the Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik Province filed a claim with the Anti-Corruption Court for the protection of state (community) interests in order to declare invalid the auction held on July 4, 2014, and to apply the consequences of the invalidity.

In particular, the Prosecutor's Office requested to declare the auction of July 4, 2014 invalid and, as a consequence of the invalidity, to declare invalid the decision No. 19-A, dated on July 4, 2014 by the Head of the Alvank settlement of Syunik region, the contract for the sale of a communal land plot signed on July 9, 2014 between the Alvank settlement and an individual, and the state registration of the right of ownership in the names of two individuals on March 21, 2017.

On October 3, 2025, the Anti-Corruption Court granted the claim submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik Province. Once the verdict enters into legal force, a 0.8-hectare land plot located in the Alvank settlement will be returned to the Meghri community of Syunik Province.

It should be recalled that the auctions for 10 land plots, totaling 8.5 hectares in the Alvank settlement of the Meghri community, were found to be merely formal, as confirmed by a verdict in a criminal case examined by the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Syunik Province.

Based on that verdict, the Prosecutor submitted five claims to the Anti-Corruption Court on April 17, 18 and 23, 2025, requesting that the aforementioned land auctions be declared invalid and that the legal consequences of the invalidity be applied. The Anti-Corruption Court accepted the claims for proceedings and imposed interim measures to secure them.
