In recent months a new form of systematic fraud has become widespread: citizens are called via phone applications (“WhatsApp”, “Facebook”, “Telegram”, etc.) or from different phone numbers, presented as employees of communication operators operating in the Republic of Armenia and instructed to log in to various programs in order to update 5G Internet settings. After logging in, criminals gain access to the data on the citizen’s mobile phone (electronic wallets, bank details, etc.) and steal the money available in their phones or apply for loans.

In order not to become a victim of crime, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia urges citizens to refrain from taking any action when receiving such calls and to contact the operator which provide service for the mobile phone number.
