Issues related to admitting a high-level international conference in Armenia were discussed by the Prosecutor General and Council of Europe representatives

On April 14, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan received Lilit Daneghian, Deputy Director of the Legal Reform and Human Rights Cooperation Programmes Division of the Department for the Implementation of Standards in Human Rights, Justice and Legal Cooperation of the Council of Europe, and Arman Zrvandyan, Head of the Project “Support to the implementation of the judicial reform in Armenia” of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan.

 

Anna Vardapetyan highly appreciated the level of cooperation established with the Council of Europe and emphasized the importance of events which were conducted jointly.

 

It should be recalled that high-level conferences on the topics of “Independence of the Prosecutor’s Office as a Guarantor of the Rule of Law” and “Strengthening the Effectiveness of International Cooperation in Fighting Transnational Organized Crime” were held in Yerevan with the Council of Europe and the European Union on July 1-2, 2023 and April 26-27, 2024, and on November 15, 2024, the presentation of the Armenian collection of opinions of the Consultative Council of Prosecutors of Europe.

 

In this context, Anna Vardapetyan emphasized that the above-mentioned conferences are important platforms for discussing issues of mutual interest with foreign partners and representatives of international organizations and establishing professional contacts.

 

Lilit Daneghian, the representative of the Council of Europe, described the level of cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia as constructive and effective. She also emphasized that the Prosecutor General's Office is one of the reliable partners of the Council of Europe.

 

Lilit Daneghian reaffirmed the Council of Europe's support to the initiative to hold an international high-level conference in Armenia on 1-2 July, 2025.

 

Parties discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
