Levon Sargsyan, former member of the National Assembly was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment: the judgment entered into legal force

Levon Sargsyan, former member of the RA National Assembly charged with the robbery committed by the group for illegal taking of property on a particularly larg-scale was sentenced to imprisonment for the term of 9 years. The judgment of the First Instance Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan entered into force.

 

Let us remind that on December 21, 2020, Levon Sargsyan was involved as a defendant under points 1 and 2 of part 3 of article 175 of the Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003 (robbery organized by an organized group for illegally taking of property on a particularly large-scale). The latter participated in the criminal association created by two RA citizens, ordered and managed the robbery of a private house located at Isahakyan Str., city of Yerevan on October 27, 2008. 

 

Levon Sargsyan was found guilty under points 1 and 2 of part 3 of article 175 of the Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003, and pursuant to the judgment rendered by the First Instance Criminal Court of Appeal of the city of Yerevan, dated June 30, 2022 the latter was sentenced to imprisonment for the term of 9 years.

 

The appeal submitted by Levon Sargsyan’s Defense Council against the mentioned judgment was rejected by the decision of the Court of Appeal dated October 23, 2024 and on December 17, 2024, the Court of Cassation rejected to accept cassation appeals submitted by the Defense Council into the proceedings.
