Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General and Grigor Elizbaryan, Military Prosecutor, Deputy Prosecutor General welcomed the delegation led by Tigran Karapetyan, Head of the Transversal Challenges and Multilateral Projects Task Force of Directorate General of the Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe on 20 April.
Jennifer Shutz-Reyman, Head of the Division of the Transversal Challenges of the Human Rights, Anna Maria Rokhan, coordinator of the projects of Transversal Challenges of the Human Rights Division and Armen Grigoryan, Head of the project “Promotion of human rights in the Armed Forces of Armenia”, coordinator of national projects of European Council’s office in Yerevan were involved in the delegation.
During the meeting Yeghiazar Avagyan appreciated the cooperation with the European Council, particularly in the fields of the fight against corruption, reforms in the judicial and legal system and criminal justice.
During the meeting they discussed the launch of the project “Promotion of human rights in the Armed Forces of Armenia” organized by the European Council and the details related thereto, prevention of human rights violations in the armed forces, effective examination of possible violations, development of competences directed at their discovery, the specific directions of project implementation as well as the most effective ways of cooperation with this regard were designated.
“Promotion of human rights in the Armed Forces of Armenia” is the continuation of the European Council’s previous project—“Human rights and women in the Armenian Armed Forces-phase 2”.
The necessity of needs’ assessment in the scope of the Project was discussed during the meeting, based on the results whereof they will determine the methodology of Project implementation and its localization specifically in prosecutorial and investigative practice.
Tigran Karapetyan, Head of the Transversal Challenges and Multilateral Projects Task Force of the European Council highlighted the importance of cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office in the scope of different projects and expressed willingness to develop cooperation with regard to the mentioned issues.
The issues related to the organization of joint events in the scope of 105th anniversary of the Prosecutor’s office were also discussed during the meeting.
