On December 5, 2022, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against A. Gh. for spreading false information about the terrorism in accordance with the decision of the supervising prosecutor.
The Investigation Department of the National Security Service investigating the criminal proceedings proved that on November 18, 2022 A. Gh. has transferred 11.700 roubles to his wife, N.Kh., living in Russia, at a branch of the bank located at Gai Avenue, Yerevan. Some days later, on October 22, being informed that the money wasn’t transferred, at around 21:25 o’clock he called to the Police Operative Management Center from Dzoraghbyur village, Kotayk region, on his mobile number and made threats to blow up the branch of the bank by throwing grenades spreading false information about terrorism.
On December 9, 2022 the decision on criminal prosecution has been presented to A. Gh., who pleaded guilty on the charge brought against him. The prohibition on absence has been chosen as a preventive measure.
On December 16, 2022 the materials of the criminal proceedings with the bill of indictment have been handed to the Court of the First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Kotayk Region.
The Prosecutor General’s Office informs that the presentation of the false information about the terrorism is a criminally prosecuted act, which is envisaged under Article 314 of the Criminal Code. As a punishment the first part of this article envisages a fine: for a maximum of twenty times the size, or public works: 80-150 hours, or limitation of liberty: for a maximum of two years, or short-term deprivation of liberty: for a maximum of two months, or deprivation of liberty: for a maximum of two years.
Taking into account the above-mentioned the Prosecutor General’s Office reassures the citizens to avoid spreading false information about terrorism.
Notice: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
