26.10.2022 | Armenia is uncompromising and intolerant against corruption. The Prosecutor General participated in the 7-th meeting of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council

Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the 7-th meeting of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council on October 26.

 

Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Andrey Shved, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Kurmankul Zulushev, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Dmitry Malakhov, the Head of the Anti-Corruption Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Suleymon Sultanzoda, the Head of the Agency of Financial Control and Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan also participated in the video conference.

 

The Prosecutor General Vardapetyan within the other issues of the agenda referred to the directions of the fight against corruption, the challenges of the sphere, the peculiarities of the investigation of illicit enrichment, as well as the improvement of the efficiency of legal mutual assistance in corruption crimes.

 

Taking into account that corruption is geographically wide-spread and the importance of uncompromising fight against it, Anna Vardapetyan emphasized the need to unite the efforts of the bodies acting on the domestic and international platforms for disclosure of corruption schemes and systematical fight against corruption.

 

In her speech, the Prosecutor General of Armenia referred to the goal of targeted and radical fight against corruption and corruption-free society according to the RA Government's program and Anti-corruption strategy, underlining that Armenia is uncompromising and intolerant against corruption. In this context, Anna Vardapetyan presented the institutional reforms carried out in a number of directions aimed at preventing corruption, disclosing corruption crimes, providing anti-corruption education and awareness, as well as investing legal mechanisms to reveal illicit enrichment.

 

Once again underlining the intolerant approach against corruption as a phenomenon that directly harms human rights and freedoms, destroys the economic ground of the state, and threatens the stability and security of the country, Anna Vardapetyan stated that the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia is ready to cooperate both exchanging effective experience and closely cooperating with concrete proceedings.
