Two criminal proceedings initiated in connection with the cases of bribery of the police patrol officers were concluded with indictments.
In particular, in the criminal proceedings examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee, A. N. was charged with committing a crime under Article 436, Part 2, Point 3 of the Criminal Code.
In the course of comprehensive preliminary investigation it was found out that on September 3, 2022, A. N. offered bribe of 16,000 AMD to the patrol of the 1st platoon of the 1st unit of the Battalion of Shirak Region of the Police Patrol Service, using the official powers to commit an obviously illegal act in his favor after which he/she was arrested by the patrol officers and presented to the Kumayri department of Shirak Region Department of the Police.
On September 20, 2022, the indictment drawn up in the criminal proceedings was approved and submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court together with the materials of the proceedings.
In the result of the case examination in the court, an indictment was filed according to which A. N. was found guilty for committing the crime provided for by the Criminal Code, and he was sentenced to three years imprisonment. The sentence imposed in the form of imprisonment was not applied conditionally, establishing a probationary period for three years.
According to the preliminary investigation of another criminal proceeding examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee, it was found out that on September 8, 2022, at around 8:40 p.m., on the 1.5th kilometer section of Vanadzor-Dilijan highway, K. M. personally gave a bribe of 15 thousand AMD to the junior patrol officer. Immediately after that, he/she was arrested and brought to the Gugark Department of the Regional Department of Lori of the RA Police on suspicion of bribery.
On September 22, 2022, the indictment drawn up in the criminal proceedings was approved and submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court.
In the result of the examination of the case in the court, an indictment was filed according to which K. M. was found guilty for committing the crime envisaged by Article 436, Part 2, Point 3 of the Criminal Code, and he was sentenced to imprisonment for two years. The sentence imposed in the form of imprisonment was not applied conditionally, establishing a probationary period of two years.
Indictments were also filed in 5 criminal proceedings investigated and sent to the court with cases of bribery by citizens to various officers of the Police Patrol Service.
Emphasizing the need to fight against corruption and the obligations assumed by the Republic of Armenia in this field, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia once again urges the citizens to refrain from the criminal manifestations of bribing the officers of the Police Patrol Service of the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of not making a record of an administrative offense and not being subject to administrative responsibility.
Each such case will receive adequate response from the law enforcement system and the persons who committed a criminal act will be held criminally liable.
