13.09.2022 | The apparent aggression by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan against the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and the civilian population was planned in advance

On September 13, 2022, started from midnight, violating the signed tripartite declaration on ceasefire on November 9, 2020, a number of international agreements on refraining from the invasion or attack on the territory of another state, on the same day data was obtained on criminal offences, war crimes and aggression committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces violating international human rights in the scope of the criminal proceedings initiated according to Article 140, Part 1, Point 2 and Article 149, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

 

In particular, in the frame of the criminal proceedings initiated, data was received on using rocket and artillery means, UAVs, as well as rifle weapons of various calibers, with the involvement of various military units and bases by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan targeting the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia by means of deliberate attacks in the direction of Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia located in the combat bases of the Region of Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik, military units, military equipment which led to human and material losses.

 

Besides, in some cases attacks were motivated by national hatred, with the intention of killing more than one person targeting civilians, houses, settlements and civil substructures not involved in combat activities. In the result of shelling committed by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, several civilians were injured.

 

According to the data already obtained, the aggression unleased against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia was planned and prepared in advance by the military and political leadership and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, measures were undertaken in long terms for making artificial grounds for the attacks and military actions.

 

In the scope of the criminal proceedings initiated, under the prosecutorial supervision on documentation in detail the war crimes, serious violations of international humanitarian law by means of regular criminal encroachments, aggressions planned in advance and       committed by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan against the RA sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia in order to give full criminal and legal estimation to what happened, to prosecute the persons who committed the crime, as well as to involve relevant international, legal mechanisms.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia also informed about the circumstances of the aggressions and the evidences proving them the Prosecutors General of the partner countries.
