16.06.2022 | Artur Davtyan met in St. Petersburg with the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov

The RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, who is in the Russian Federation to participate in the 25th anniversary International Economic Forum, which is taking place in St. Petersburg, today met with the Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.

 

The RA Prosecutor General wished the forum successful work and noted that the forum is a large and already established platform for discussing the possibilities of developing economic relations between countries in the context of modern global challenges, as well as improving the universal mechanisms for protecting business from criminal encroachments at the international and national levels.

 

In this regard, Artur Davtyan stressed that recently there has been an influx of many Russian citizens and businessmen to Armenia, and the RA Prosecutor's Office keeps their security, rights, protection of business interests in the center of the attention, maintaining contact with the Russian Embassy in Armenia for this purpose.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the participation of his Armenian colleague in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

 

Igor Krasnov also expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of the two countries, emphasizing the role of the RA Prosecutor General and expressing readiness to deepen cooperation.

 

During the meeting, issues related to cooperation in the field of combating transnational crime and mutual legal assistance were discussed. The parties assessed the effective process of implementing the multi-vector cooperation programs signed between the Prosecutor General's Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. Both parties noted that the joint activities envisaged by these programs contribute to the development of the professional potential of prosecutors and the exchange of experience in areas of importance in the fight against crime.

 

During the meeting, issues of implementation of the agreements reached during last year's tripartite meetings between the Prosecutor Generals of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan were discussed. In particular, the importance of a joint investigation of criminal violations of the ceasefire regime and their consequences was emphasized, without turning the format of the exchange of information about incidents into a formality.

 

Artur Davtyan thanked Igor Krasnov for his serious personal contribution to solving humanitarian issues of conflict resolution and establishing communication between the parties. He stressed that Azerbaijan continues to fail to comply with the requirements of Point 8 of the tripartite ceasefire statement of November 10, 2020 regarding the unconditional return of all prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, which is a key factor in regional peace and secure cooperation.

 

Artur Davtyan noted that it is necessary to make joint efforts to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
