Nico Schermers, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Armenia, visited the RA Prosecutor General's Office.
Having received the ambassador, the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan expressed gratitude for the initiative of the meeting, stressing that it will become a new stimulus for deepening cooperation between the law enforcement systems of the two countries, taking into account the high level of interstate relations on the basis of mutual trust between Armenia and the Netherlands.
Artur Davtyan, highly appreciating the due attention on the part of colleagues of the competent authorities of the Netherlands to the investigative requests submitted by the RA on important criminal cases, said that this gives them additional efficiency. Especially in terms of the fight against corruption and the effectiveness of the process of confiscation of property of illegal origin.
He noted that numerous assets were illegally exported from Armenia, including to European countries. Therefore, close cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of European countries, including the Netherlands, can be essential in the issue of their return to their rightful owner - the Republic of Armenia.
Ambassador Schermers noted that the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Armenia is ready to provide effective communication between the law enforcement structures of the two countries, and, based on the priorities of the Armenian side, is interested in promoting reforms in the field of criminal justice, initiatives to improve the efficiency of the implementation of the functions of the Prosecutor's Office.
During the meeting, prospects and opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fight against transnational crime were discussed.
The parties agreed to intensify contacts and, on the basis of cooperation, form stable and long-term structures for the exchange of information.
