11.01.2022 | 344 trees cut illegally, damage of 30 million drams caused. The criminal case was sent to court

The RA Prosecutor's Office and its territorial subdivisions in cooperation with other criminal prosecution bodies continue struggle against illegal deforestation.

 

In particular, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case investigated under Article 315, Part 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code on official negligence by the officials of Tumanyan Forestry of Hayantar SNCO was completed by the Prosecutor's Office of Lori Region.

 

According to the evidence collected it was substantiated that Tumanyan's forester, head of forest, forestry engineer, being obliged to take preventive measures, control illegal logging and other violations of the RA forestry legislation, and if necessary establish documents authorizing other types of forest use and control over the implementation and those who have not fulfilled their responsibilities as required.

 

In particular, they did not pay regular visit to the mentioned forestry, as a result 344 cases of illegal tree cutting in three guard points of Dsegh forestry of Tumanyan Forestry Branch were found out. It caused particularly large damage to the flora, more than 30,000,000 AMD damage.

 

The prosecutor supervising the legality of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case confirmed the indictment and sent the criminal case to the First Instance Court of Lori Region.

 

The properties of the persons involved as defendants were seized as compensation for the damage caused to the state.

 

The prosecutor has filed a civil lawsuit in according to criminal procedure law to confiscate the damage caused to the state.
