25.11.2021 | 37 persons were charged for granting, obtaining a driver's license with a bribe

 

The RA Prosecutor's Office and other law enforcement bodies, within their competence, through the cooperation carry out a consistent fight against the criminal manifestation of the acquisition of a driver's license by criminal means, taking into account the risks for road users.

 

On the basis of materials prepared in the Lori regional department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia in the Investigative Department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia on 09.08.2021 under Point 2 of Part 4 of Art. 311, Part 1 of Art. 312 and Part 1 of Art. 313 of the RA Criminal Code, a criminal case was initiated on the fact of creating illegal grounds for issuing a driver's license by an official through taking a bribe; a preliminary investigation of the criminal case is carried out in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.

 

By the evidence obtained in the course of the preliminary investigation of the indicated case that the Inspector of the Registration-investigation division of Yerevan service of «RP» of the RA Police A.S. from August 2020 until July 2021 through his acquaintance one received a bribe in the amount of 75.000-150.000 AMD for the provision of a driver's license. As a result, persons who did not actually take part in the practical exam received driving licenses.

 

During the preliminary investigation, by assessing sufficient evidence, the RP inspector was charged on 24.08.2021 under Part 1 of Article 308 and Point 2 of Part 4 of Art. 311 of the RA Criminal Code, detention was chosen as a measure of restraint against him, and the person who provided assistance was charged under Point 2 of Part 4 of Art. 38-311 of the RA Criminal Code.

 

During the preliminary investigation, 35 persons were charged for obtaining driver’s licenses in exchange for bribery and mediation of bribes.

 

Under the supervision of the prosecutor by this case, measures are being taken to identify the circle of persons involved in this criminal scheme and to provide a criminal-legal assessment to their actions.

 

Earlier it was reported that by another criminal case regarding the provision of driver's licenses to persons who did not participate in the practical exam on the part of one person who gave a bribe and the inspector of the territorial registration and investigation department of the RP of the RA Police, a trial is being carried out, and on part  of 6 persons who gave the bribe for the issuance of a driver's license, the court issued convictions. By the initiative of the RA Prosecutor General, the driving licenses of these persons, obtained by criminal means, were invalidated in accordance with the decisions of the RA Police Department of the Civic Service.

 

The process will be continuous.

 

Notice: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
