08.07.2021 | Artur Davtyan has participated in the session of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors of the CIS: bilateral meeting with the Prosecutor General of Russian Federation

Today the session of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Saint Petersburg, which was attended by the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan.

 

Communication, cooperation within international platforms, consolidation of the potential of the law enforcement agencies of the member states in the fight against crime in the territory of CIS, as well as other issues of general interest were discussed during the session.

 

The Prosecutors General expressed confidence that the meeting will be a new motivation in the scope of the Coordinating Council for further improvement of relations and effective counteract to transnational crime.

 

After the session a bilateral meeting was held between Artur Davtyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia and Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Federation of Russia.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Federation of Russian highly appreciated his colleague’s role both in the relations between the Prosecutor’s Offices of two countries and in increasing the efficiency of the activity of the Coordinating Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as strengthening the international relations.

 

During the meeting, they touched upon the post-war humanitarian situation in Artsakh conflict zone and issues related to peace-building in the region, the protection of the rights of the population of Artsakh, as well as the people living in the bordering settlements of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Giving importance to the recent positive developments regarding homecoming of Armenian prisoners of war, Artur Davtyan underlined the necessity for the continuation of the process under both international humanitarian law and obligations provided by Point 8 of tripartite declaration of ceasefire agreement of November 10, 2020 as an important guarantee for local peace-building and stability in the region.

 

The RA Prosecutor General underlined the work done by Russian peacekeepers and other forces for strengthening stability in the region and the constructive role of Igor Krasnov in person for legal and humanitarian issues solutions, particularly emphasizing his efforts to implement the agreements reached on the implementation of Point 8 of the tripartite declaration.
