According to the RA Law on Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia represented by the respective subdivision which is in the stage of establishment is in charge of studying the grounds for initiating lawsuit for confiscation of property of illicit origin. The mentioned function also envisages obtaining data on property of illicit origin, its volumes and the frame of interested people.
It is worth of reminding that the mentioned provisions of law enter into force on the day of appointment of at least three prosecutors in the respective subdivision of the RA General Prosecutor's Office. In the result of completion of the process of current study the formation of the subdivision is planned to start from September.
Artur Davtyan, the RA Prosecutor General gave a number of instructions to all the subdivisions of the RA Prosecutor's Office to start and carry out the process of confiscation of property of illicit origin without delays because of the need to establish social justice and to raise the effectiveness of the fight against corruption.
The Prosecutor General instructed to present the data in the first days of September regarding the pending and completed criminal cases during the year having grounds for initiating a lawsuit defined by the RA Law on Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin.
Furthermore, according to the RA Prosecutor General's instruction in the second stage the prosecutors in cooperation with the RA Police, the investigation and preliminary investigation bodies, the RA Judicial Department must submit the above-mentioned information on the criminal cases investigated during 2010-2019.
It has also been instructed continuously to transfer in ten-day terms the data regarding the criminal cases being investigated from the moment when the subdivision of the RA Prosecutor's Office with the functions of confiscation of property of illicit origin is established.
