During the period 12 - 14 July, 2020, at different times of the day, the enemy's armed forces motivated by national hatred, religious fanaticism, with the intention of depriving illegally two or more people of the right of life has used artillery and grenades of different calibers bombing the Military unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, applying also "Kamikadze" unmanned aerial vehicles in the settlements of Berd community of Tavush region, Republic of Armenia, in the zone of the state border with Azerbaijan.
However, these criminal acts were not completed due to the circumstances irrespective of the will of the criminals resulted from explosions caused by the bombings of the mentioned unmanned aerial vehicles, artillery and grenade launchers, the contract, as well as military conscripts of the Armed Forces received mostly light comminuted fracture or brain concussion. The latter were taken to the Military Hospital of Berd and were provided with the necessary medical care.
In the result of the above-mentioned actions of the enemy, some vehicles were also damaged.
In connection with the mentioned cases on July 13 and 14 of 2020, 9 criminal cases were initiated at the Sixth Garrison Investigative Division of the General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to Article 34-104, Part 2, Points 1, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code, Article 34-104, Part 2, Points 1, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code, Article 185, Part 2, Points 1 and 4, Article 185, Part 2, Points 1 and 4 of the RA Criminal Code.
On July 14, 2020, in the same part of the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, at about 12:25 and 13:30, the enemy's armed forces motivated by national hatred, religious fanaticism, with the intention illegally to deprive two or more people of the right of life have used artillery and grenades of different calibers bombing the Military unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, applying also "Kamikadze" unmanned aerial vehicles. Capitan Sos Elbakyan as well as Major Garush Hambardzumyan, conscripts: Junior Sergeant Smbat Gabrielyan and Junior Sergeant Grisha Matevosyan died from bodily injuries received. Several military servicemen were also bodily injured.
On July 14, 2 criminal cases were initiated in the Sixth Garrison Investigative Division of the Military Investigative General Department the RA Investigative Committee, one of which under Article 104, Part 2, Points 1, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code, and the other under Article 104, Part 2, Points 1, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code and Article 185, Part 2, Points 1 and 4 of the RA Criminal Code.
The preliminary investigations of 11 criminal cases are underway, forensic examinations of the dead servicemen were appointed within the framework of in situ investigation, all the wounded military servicemen were recognized as victims, forensic medical examinations were appointed, as well as other necessary investigative measures were conducted and are still ongoing.
Measures are being undertaken to give the criminal and legal assessment of the situation in the same part of the RA state border in the early morning of July 16 by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in violation of the ceasefire, territorial immunity of the RA, as well as the lives and health of civilians of some settlements of Berd community of Tavush region to provide a legal assessment to the criminal encroachments, about which will be given further information.
