19.02.2020 | Meeting within the framework of preparation for nationwide elections

On February 19, the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan met with employees of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Artsakh within the framework of a working visit to Artsakh.


During the meeting, led by the Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Artsakh Aramayis Avagyan and the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, were discussed the issues related to the implementation of effective prosecutorial supervision over the organization of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in the Republic of Artsakh, the study of reports, statements and signals of entities involved in election processes regarding the violations recorded during the elections.


The RA Prosecutor General stated in his speech that each citizen of the Republic of Artsakh must have guarantees for expression of free will. The RA Prosecutor General especially stressed the role and responsibility of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Artsakh. Artur Davtyan said, “In this sense I am sure, there won’t be any tolerance toward any criminal violations.”


During the meeting were discussed the mechanisms of interaction between other interested circles of the CEC of the Republic of Artsakh, organizations carrying out an observation mission, other law enforcement agencies, as well as the possibility of organizing relevant courses for prosecutors and investigators of the IC of the Republic of Artsakh in the context of an exchange of experience with the RA Prosecutor General’s Office with the aim of providing operational and practical assistance to prosecutors working in the territories of structural subdivisions of the prosecutor's office and carrying out the prosecutorial supervision over the preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal cases and review of reports concerning the violations recorded during the election.
