26.11.2019 | Artur Davtyan paid a working visit to the Republic of Artsakh

RA Prosecutor General is in the Republic of Artsakh on a working visit.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia has met with the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan. During the meeting, the parties have discussed opportunities and prospects for the development of cooperation between the systems of the prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh in legal field, the capabilities of the prosecutor's office of the Republic of Artsakh, the interaction of law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime and the improvement of legal assistance mechanisms.

 

Artur Davtyan has participated in the solemn session dedicated to the Day of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh. In his congratulatory speech, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia has noted that the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh has been established as a system, having played a key role in the criminal-legal system, and is the main guarantor and engine of ensuring the legality, natural activity of criminal-legal field in Artsakh. Also, due to this, Artsakh differs from the internationally recognized countries, including many countries of the region, by its internal legal stability, control over the state of crime, level of cooperation and coordination of law enforcement agencies. According to the Prosecutor General, stable traditions of relations have been developed between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries, which greatly contribute to strengthening the legality and internal legal security necessary for the natural functioning and development of democratic societies in the two Armenian Republics.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the RA Prosecutor General has also met with the Prosecutors of the Military Prosecutor's Office. Issues related to the state, trends of crime in the Armed Forces Units for 2019, modern problems of prosecutorial supervision over the legality of investigations carried out in cases of crimes, and the effectiveness of the fight against corruption in the Armed Forces have been discussed.

 

The RA Prosecutor General has considered as a priority the need to continue to take measures with a view to prevent crimes in military units and other units of the Armed Forces which are under the control of Military Prosecutors’ Offices of Garrisons, and to eliminate manifestations of misconduct of soldiers and officers.

 

Within the framework of the prosecutor’s supervision over the legality of investigations of criminal cases, the RA Prosecutor General has emphasized the proper protection of the rights of participants in the proceedings, as well as the application of prosecutorial measures to eliminate the conditions and causes of the crime. On the basis of the results of meeting, Artur Davtyan has given specific instructions.
