The study has revealed that during the reporting period, 119 cases of illegal logging, forest destruction and abuse of official powers by forestry officials have been registered, on 49 of which criminal cases have been initiated. The vast majority of them have been initiated in accordance with various parts of art. 296 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and two of them - in accordance with part 1 of Art. 308 of the RA Criminal Code.
The amount of damage caused to the State in criminal cases on the facts of illegal logging has been amounted to more than 102 million drams, of which about 600 thousand drams have been recovered.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against 12 persons, including 1 forester.
In order to effectively combat and eliminate shortcomings in one or another timber industry enterprise operating under the “Hayantar” SNCO, and impose disciplinary actions on officials who do not fulfill their duties, the prosecutor of Lori region has sent a corresponding petition to the Director of “Hayantar” SNCO.
