05.06.2019 | Representatives of the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia and Iran have discussed the issues of extradition and mutual legal assistance between the two countries

On June 5, a discussion  has been held with the participation of representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the topic “Practical issues of cooperation in extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters”.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the IRI  have touched upon a number of topical and substantive issues in the field of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters, discussing the most effective approaches to solutions in the context of international law and legislative norms of  two countries, and prospects for deepening cooperation.

Representatives of the prosecutor's office of  two countries  have given  great importance to international legal cooperation in criminal matters, they have stressed the importance of frequent meetings in such formats, noting that they contribute to solving operational problems of specific situations, bringing together business relations and strengthening mutual trust.

The delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran  has also been  received by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Armen Harutyunyan. He has highly appreciated the warm, friendly relations that have developed at all levels between two  neighbor countries, their common historical and cultural heritage. Armen Harutyunyan has  expressed confidence that  the implementation of program activities will contribute to the unification and effective use of the potential of both countries in the field of mutual legal assistance and extradition, and especially in the field of transnational crime, drug trafficking and the fight against terrorism.
