22.01.2019 | Cases of Illegal Tree Felling in Syunik Region Exceeding Damage Caused Over 8.5 Million AMD

According to the materials prepared by Goris Division of Police it has been found out that from the end of September to 20 October 2018 Meghri Town resident, Syunik Region, illegally felled down 14 Greek walnut trees, 4 hornbeams, 2 maples and 1 cherry tree in one of the sections in Goris Forestry Enterprise Branch of Syunik Forestry Enterprise causing extremely large damage to the nature in the amount of 3,981,000 AMD. Felled down Greek walnut trees have been  transported to the area of 'Sekna Group' LLC in Balahovit residential area, Kotayq Region.

A criminal case has been  initiated based on this on 21 January.

Earlier, on 11 January, it had been found out from the letter received from RA Environmental and Mining Inspection that the illegal tree felling in one of the sections of Kapan Forestry Enterprise, 'ArmForest' SNCO, thus causing damage of 4,639,500 AMD to the flora. A total of 66 trees of different species and diameters had been cut down: a criminal case has been initiated, the investigation is in progress.
