Each message that has been received in the RA Prosecutor’s Office has been subject to thorough review with the aim of provision of corresponding measures in order to find out the circumstances of the cases mentioned in the messages.
Particularly, 6 criminal cases have been initiated under Article 164 of the RA Criminal Code. Accusation verdict has been passed in regard with one of the cases. Proceedings of three of the cases have been terminated. Charge has been brought against 4 people.
At the same time 6 criminal cases have been initiated under Article 149 of the RA Criminal Code. Three cases along with bills of indictment have been sent to court. Proceedings of two of the cases are still in process. One person was convicted in regard with one of the cases. Proceedings of three of the cases have been terminated.
The RA Prosecutor’s Office appreciates the role and the importance of the mass media in becoming and fulfillment of democracy and will continue being consistent in protection of journalists’ professional activities.
