27.12.2017 | The person wanted for smuggling anti-aircraft missile complex MANPADS was extradited to Armenia

As a result of cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of Armenia and Georgia, Robert Aghvanyan was extradited to Armenia, the latter was  wanted for smuggling anti-aircraft missile complex MANPADS from  Georgia to Armenia.

From the combination of evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, investigated by the Investigation Department of the National Security Service adjunct to the RA Government on  March 24, 2017, on the basis of evidence obtained during the  preliminary investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of  the National Security Service of Armenia, it was decided to bring Robert Aghvanyan as an accused  in accordance with p. 2 Art. 235 and p.1 , p. 2 , Art. 235.1 of the RA Criminal Code.

As a result of joint activities undertaken by the Criminal Investigation Department of the RA Police, the staff of the National Security Service and the Central Department of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, on March 27, R. Aghvanyan was found in Tbilisi.

The request of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia to extradite the latter to the law enforcement bodies of Armenia was granted and on December 25, 2017 he was extradited to Armenia.
