04.12.2017 | A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of spoiling soil which caused significant damage to the environment

Based on the information received from the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the RA MNP, the Department of State Interests Protection of the Prosecutor General's Office revealed that the LLC in the territory of the Mastara community in Aragatsotn region carried out excavation work to transport 250,000 cubic meters of "soil cover" for using it  as a fill for road construction.

The Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia did not submit any objections, under the condition that the requirements and norms established by the decisions of the RA Government from 26.05.2006 N: 750-Ն, 20.07.2006 N: 1026-Ն and 08.09.2011 N:1936-Ն must be observed.

As a result, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the RA MNP stated that the fertile soil layer was degraded, the land of agricultural importance changed its meaning, which caused significant damage to the environment.

Taking into account the fact that the registered violations flagrantly  contain the elements of a crime, in the Department of State Interests Protection of the Prosecutor General's Office a criminal case has been initiated  under the features of the  crime, prescribed by  Art. 290, p. 1 of the RA Criminal Code, the preliminary investigation of which has been instructed to the RA  Investigative Committee.

‘Note: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by Criminal Procedure Code of RA and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
