In the prosecutor's office of Lori region it was decided to arrest the head of the forestry of the Gugark branch of the state non-profit organization "Hayantar" in the territory of the forestry of Spitak.

Оn October 24 in the prosecutor's office of Lori region, a criminal case was initiated in accordance with p. 3 art. 296 and p.2 art. 315 of the RA Criminal Code, the preliminary investigation was instructed to the Lori Regional Investigative  Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

According to the prepared materials, on the territory of the Gugark branch of the state non-profit organization "Hayantar" in the territory of  Spitak forestry in the protected zone number 10, 408 pieces of various trees were illegally cut down by the individuals, whose identities are not established, which caused damage to the state and the environment in the amount of 25 444 500 AMD.

As a result of large-scale operative-search and investigative actions, taken during the preliminary investigation, factual data were received that illegal cuttings of trees on the territory of forestry was carried out by the competent officials performing state forest service of the same forestry.

As a result, on October 29, on suspicion of abuse of official authority, a forester of this forestry was arrested. On October 31, 2010, with a set of sufficient evidence, received by the preliminary investigation, a charge was brought in accordance with p. 2 art.  308 of the RA Criminal Code.

On October 31, a decision was made to involve the latter as an accused in accordance with p.3 art. 296 of the RA Criminal Code.

‘Note: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by Criminal Procedure Code of RA and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
