Head of the Department for Charge Defense and Appealing of Judicial Acts of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office- Gevorg Baghdasaryan has held a reception for the experts of the program of “American experience in correcting of wrongful convictions” Jeffrey Deskovich founder of “The Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation For Justice”, Head of the office of Idaho “Innocence Project” Greg Hampikyan and the Head of the NGO “Armenian Program of Innocence” Zaruhi Mejlumyan.
During the meeting they have discussed American and Armenian practice of reviewing the judicial acts that have entered into force, features of judicial mechanisms operating in both countries. The Head of the Department for Charge Defense and Appealing of Judicial Acts of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office Gevorg Baghdasaryan has attached the importance of cooperation with NGOs and has reasserted the commitment of the Prosecutor’s Office to discuss the proposals aimed at solving the problems of criminal procedure more effectively.
US experts have presented their studies relating the sphere and got acquainted with the Armenian practice. Both sides have discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
