01/04/2024

The Prosecutor’s Office, pursuant to part 2 of article 5 of the law “On the Prosecutor’s Office”, published a report on its activity during 2023 in its official webpage.

The achievements of the Prosecutor’s Office as well as the challenges it faced during 2023 in the field of implementation of its constitutional powers was presented in the ten sections of the report.

Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General mentioned in the introductory part of the report:

Adhering to the transparency and accountability in work, the Prosecutor's Office has set a goal to increase the confidence of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia in justice, to relentlessly fight for the protection of public good and to ensure the rule of law.

I am sure that it was due to the abovementioned approach, that according to the public opinion survey conducted in December 2023, the Public Prosecutor's Office improved its position by 8 percent in terms of satisfaction index, compared to the survey conducted in March 2023. 39% of RA citizens are completely satisfied and rather satisfied with the work of the Prosecutor's Office.

Fight against corruption, protection of state and community interests and confiscation of illicit property was among the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office during 2023 and will remain among them during 2024.

Fight against corruption and protection of public good are not abstract notions—they are the core of our constitutional mandate and the values we protect.

The corruption gradually erodes the foundations of democracy, affects the public trust and hinders economic development. Our commitment, apart from being a punitive policy, is a clear message—corruption will not be tolerated.

In the context of protection of public good the commitment of the Prosecutor’s Office involve a wide scope of actions— from the protection of the rights of vulnerable groups until the initiation of the claim on the protection of state and community interests.

I hope, that the report on the activity of the Prosecutor’s Office during 2023 will become a reliable source of study for all colleagues, especially lawyers, civil society representatives and journalists.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the prosecutors and all the colleagues of law enforcement system, as it was only due to their compassionate and dedicated work, that we were able to achieve tangible results during the previous year.

  • Properties and funds were returned to the state;
  • The number of cases with the signed indictment that were submitted to the court twice increased (including cases that were examined for more than 8 months);
  • Consistent work was carried out with victims and with individuals applying to the Prosector’s Office for the protection of their rights, etc.

Self-sacrifice is for enthusiasts. Only enthusiasts are working and will work in the Prosecutor’s Office for the sake of the Republic of Armenia and for the benefit of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia”.
