The number of cases submitted to the court with an indictment doubled: the work implemented by the Prosecutor’s Office of Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts was summarized

The work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts of the city of Yerevan during 2023 was summarized with Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia. 

 

Davit Aghajanyan, Prosecutor of the administrative district represented the crime situation as well as the works directed at the crime disclosure. 

 

In particular, the Prosecutor of the administrative district mentioned that 2635 cases of crime were recorded in the administrative district during 2023 (2688 cases during 2022): the number of the cases decreased by 53 or 2%.

 

According to Davit Aghajanyan, although the total number of committed crimes decreased the number of grave, particularly grave and medium gravity crimes increased.

 

356 cases of crimes against human was recorded during 2023 compared to 371 cases recorded during 2022 (decreased by 15 cases or 4%).

 

The number of crimes against property decreased by 169 or 15 % during 2023 (959 cases were recorded during the accounting year, 1128 cases during 2022).

 

The number of cases of theft increased—15 cases during 2023, 7 cases during 2022.

 

The number of burglary cases kept falling —75 cases during 2023, 83 cases during 2022.

 

64 cases of economic crimes were recorded during the reporting period, while 80 cases were recorded during 2022. The number of cases decreased by 16 or 20%.

 

The number of crimes related to the illegal drug circulation increased by 219 (322 cases during 2023, 103 cases during 2022).

 

The prosecutors submitted to the court 346 criminal proceedings (with the indictment) regarding 399 individuals during 2023 (197 criminal cases (proceedings) regarding 241 individuals during 2022).

 

During 2023 the examination of 229 criminal cases regarding 243 individuals pending at the court was completed. 

 

During 2023 the Prosecutor’s Office of the administrative district examined, inter alia, the alienation processes of land plots and buildings constructed on those land plots allotted to public facilities located on the land plots of common use of “Tigran Mets” and “Nansen” parks of the Nor-Nork administrative districts of the city of Yerevan.

 

Based on the results of the examinations the prosecutor submitted a report on the crime to the Anti-Corruption Committee, criminal proceedings were initiated. Under one of the abovementioned cases a contesting claim was submitted to the Administrative court on canceling the decision of the head of the community on alienation of the property and on recognizing the concluded sale and purchase agreements, state registrations of the rights made in the Cadaster Committee and records made in the registry book invalid.

 

The Prosecutor General gave assignments to activate the works directed at the protection of state (community interests) and to continue the examination of territories not subject to alienation under article 60 of the Land Code, and in particular to the examination of land plots belonging to kindergartens.
