27.11.2019 | The fact of illegal mining of tuff registered. Criminal case initiated

On the basis of a letter and information received from the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia, the legality of mining from a field in the territory of Koghbavan municipality of Armavir Region has been studied by the Department of State Interests Protection of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia. For this purpose, the necessary documents have been requested and received from the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

 

In the course of the study, it has been found out that in the plot of Sevakasar located in the territory of Koghbavan municipality of Armavir region, in the period of June - October 2019, without the right to use subsoil 1824 m3 of tuff has been mined illegally by LLC. This has caused significant damage to the subsoil and deposits of minerals.

 

Taking into account the fact that in the course of the study sufficient data have been obtained concerning the evidence of a crime causing significant damage to the environment, subsoil and mineral deposits by the violations of the rules of use and protection of subsoil or with deviations from relevant projects or without using the treaty for the use of subsoil, in the Department of State Interests Protection of the Prosecutor       General's Office of the Republic of Armenia a criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 291 of the RA Criminal Code.

 

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been entrusted to the RA Investigative Committee.

 

Notice: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
