16.05.2019 | Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia has met with the representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation

On 16.05.2019 in Yerevan a seminar has been held with the participation of representatives of the prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation on topic of “Practical aspects of cooperation in the field of extradition and the provision of legal assistance in criminal matters. Exchange of work experience of the prosecutors’ offices of Armenia and Russia in identifying, arresting, confiscating and returning from abroad assets obtained as a result of committing crimes.”

The seminar is the third event envisaged by the program for 2018-2020 signed in 2017 by the Prosecutor General of the RA and the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

During the seminar, representatives of the Prosecutor Generals Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation have discussed a number of key issues arising from the cooperation in the field of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters, reviewed the most effective approaches for their solution and the current challenges of modern society.

By presenting the experience in this field, the participants of the event once again have stressed that international legal cooperation in criminal matters and the development of efficiency in that field are constantly in the focus of attention of the prosecutor generals’ offices of the two countries.

Deputy Prosecutor General Davit Melkonyan has also met with the delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. He has stressed the importance of effective cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and touching the two country’s cooperation program he has noted that the program for 2018-2020 signed in 2017 by the Prosecutor General of the RA and the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation is the fifth signed program since 2007. The previous programs have been successfully implemented and promoted the exchange of experience and the strengthening of cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries.

Representatives of the prosecutor's offices of the two countries have stressed the importance of meetings in such format, noting that they would contribute to closer cooperation and solution of key issues in this field.
