06.05.2019 | The RA Prosecutor General today has met the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

The RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan today has received the delegation headed by Jorgen Andrews, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

Welcoming the guests, Artur Davtyan has noted that such meetings testify to the high level of Armenian-American friendly relations. The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia has highly appreciated the high level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of mutual legal assistance, as a result of which the criminal proceedings can become more effective based on responses to numerous requests from the Armenian side. Mr. Andrews, in his turn, has highly appreciated the meeting with the RA Prosecutor General, noted that the fight against corruption is a priority for the US government, and they expect continued cooperation in this direction. A wide range of issues related to money laundering, drug trafficking, the return of illicitly acquired property and assets, the anti-corruption strategy, as well as new opportunities and directions of cooperation in human rights protection and guarantees within the framework of criminal proceedings have been  discussed.

The RA Prosecutor General has presented the initiatives of the RA Prosecutor’s Office in the indicated directions, as well as the goals and objectives of the anti-corruption reforms carried out in Armenia, steps aimed at increasing the transparency and publicity of the officials' activities and incomes.
