29.03.2017 | The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia has written a letter to V. Hoktanyan with a request to give information concerning the cases published by the latter

On 29.03.2017 during the meeting with the journalists Head of the Programs of Anticorruption Center of Transparency International Varujan Hoktanyan has told that in the result of studies, carried out by Anticorruption Center of the Republic, it has been found out that from 13.03.2017 to 24.03.2017, 45 cases of distributing electoral bribes have been registered. Electoral bribes have been distributed by the representatives of the Republican Party and representatives of Tsarukyan Block. 9 cases of exerting pressure and threats have been registered.

 

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia states that, working group formed from 20.01.2017 in the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia, by 29.03.2017 has studied 207 publications relating to electoral offences, from which 45 publications contain flagrant elements of crime. With the aim of clarification of the circumstances of these 45 publications, they have been sent to the RA Police territorial divisions to conduct supervisory activities. The mentioned circumstances in the 40 out of those 45 publications have been either denied or not confirmed. Supervisory activities over the rest of the cases are still in process. 37 out 45 publications related to distributing electoral bribes, and 8 of them related to cases of hindering voting rights of a citizen.
